Converse's running shoes thrived in the 1970s and 80s, blessing fans with classics like the Road Star and World Class models. Now, in 2024, runners are everywhere, and Converse is returns to the arena with new running sneakers.

You have Converse's Japan imprint to thank for the new Converse Running line, which offers up four sneaker models: a Cons Randual, Cons Run Slash, Cavestar, and Daystar.

Converse's Cavestar is distinguished by a carved-out midsole for a lighter, more comfy ride. The Daystar is a more casual design, ready for activities like power walking and steady jogs. And how could we forget about the Cons Run Slash sneaker and its big "CONS'' on the heel?

Rather than taking the slim retro approach to design, Converse's new running sneakers enters the scene with these striking designs and extra chunky soles. A head tilt and scratch later from looking at the lineup, I couldn't help but wonder, "Have we met before, Converse runners?"

Take in the stylish airy knit uppers atop thick cushy soles layered with running-specific technologies. Basically, Converse went HOKA mode with its newest sneaker line, marrying style and functionality for modern-day runners.

Converse's running shoes come in various colorways, including an all-black iteration oozing the feels of HOKA's TC 1.0 (hold the COMME des GARÇONS). There was even a bolder poppy color option, which reminded me of HOKA's vibrant Mach 6 lineup.

HOKA vibes or not, I have some excitings news for those in the market for running shoes. Converse's stylish sneakers are now available at select Converse stores, mostly overseas in Japan (so far). But you might get lucky spotting Converse's thick steppers at a few Converse stockists later down the road.
